2021 Sunday Emails

2021 Sunday Emails

I set the intention of sending an email newsletter every Sunday in 2021. I’m mid-way through the year, and it hasn’t happened exactly like that.

The goal was to institute a regular writing habit, and in many ways these emails reflect that. This year, I made a conscious effort to write in my voice, which I’m excited to share whatever the topic. My email newsletter has never stuck to a single topic. Instead, at least in 2021, it’s the medium through which I express my writing.

These are the Sunday emails from 2021.

  • A misspelling in this email bothers me, so if you don’t mind I’d like to correct it here. The digital notes poem in this email should read,

“The sky was extra big tonight as the sun set
Sandhill cranes above me in my car, zoom-zoom
A small lake rippled bright blue along the freeway
Because a cold front was coming through.
Branches and errant trash swayed in the wind too
Modern Girl by Sleater Kinney played and it’s so true
My whole life looks like a picture of a sunny day.
Then it’s a song I can dance to which I do
Naturally with the sound makes me move
    Baby look at me now”
